Power Requirements & Recommendations

• To ensure proper startup and operation of the diesel heater, a power station with at least 200W startup draw is mandatory. Entry-level power stations may trip the breaker for safety reasons.

• Recommended Accessories

• For optimal heat transfer, we recommend a 3-inch ducting tube from Hon & Guan (available on Amazon for approximately $15). It features good insulation, ensuring efficient heat distribution.
• A 12v to 110v Adapter with a minium 15A power output is required for 110v power source.  

HE vs. Pro Model Comparison

Both the HE (High Elevation) and Pro models feature a 5kW heating output, but the HE unit is optimized for high-altitude performance with a tuned BTU output and cold air adaptations.

Which Model is Right for You?

• Pro Unit: Best for sea-level campgrounds, ground tents, rooftop tents (RTTs), and moderate heating needs. This model is more fuel-efficient at lower altitudes.
• High Elevation (HE) Unit: Built for extreme overlanding and mountainous terrain, delivering ~20% more heating output for larger spaces and sub-zero conditions.

Key Differences

• Altitude Adaptation: The HE unit features an automatic altitude sensor that activates at 3,000 ft+, adjusting performance to maintain efficiency in thin air.
• Fuel Consumption:
  • HE Unit burns more fuel per hour but heats up faster, running for shorter durations to reach the target temperature in extreme cold.

  • Pro Unit is more fuel-efficient at lower elevations, making it ideal for extended use.

     

If your adventures primarily take you to sea-level or moderate climates, the Pro is a solid choice. But for high-altitude, sub-zero expeditions, the HE model is the tougher, more capable option.

Through we initially designed Combusto to be portable. 

Yes, you can mount the combusto anywhere on your car, as long as it’s in its stand-up position. The most popular option is on a side rack, which can be achieved through DIY methods, such as using two 1-inch steel bars as a bracket either inside or outside the combusto, be sure to seal the bolt up with some silicone. 

March 2025：

Our assembly is now back to the United States. This decision will enhance our control over the parts quality and assembly process. In Jan, we contracted a manufacturer in China to produce approximately 40 units in a short timeframe and air dropped to us. However, we received mixed feedbacks on those units. Consequently, we have resolved to maintain production within the United States moving forward.

Combusto Bible Guide

Warranty Policy:

We offer repair warranty for six months from the date of delivery. Our warranty covers troubleshooting and the replacement of faulty components. To qualify for warranty service, the unit or parts must be shipped back to our office with the fuel tank disconnected.

Warranty Exclusions – When is the Warranty Void?

Your warranty will be void under the following conditions:

• Any modifications to the original design.
• Misuse or failure to follow the operational guidelines.

By purchasing Combasto, you agree to our return policy.

We accept returns if the Diesel Heaters have never been used and are in their original condition, with a 10% restocking fee.
